The Crying Woman, 2023, video still

The artist compels herself to cry, yet not a single tear falls. Her persistent, repetitive attempts to force tears result in a spectacular failure.

While the motif of "The Weeping Woman"—most notably in Picasso’s work—has been deemed historically significant and frequently referenced in art, the artist herself is not a woman who sheds tears easily. She believes that such women are, in fact, quite common.

However, our society persists in a climate that seems to invalidate the existence of such women, upholding the ideal that women must be "fragile and beautiful." This work serves as an act of resistance against these societal expectations.
